Tips Tuesday – A New Beginning

Yes we have all been there.  Either by choice or by happenstance, a New Beginning can instigate feelings of excitement, apprehension, joy, fear, doubt and euphoria.  It’s learning how to go with the flow of events while still maintaining your sanity that can be seemingly impossible.  Like trying to tread water in rapids.  It isn’t easy, pretty nor does it feel natural, but low and behold, Nature IS Change.  Things in life are constantly evolving shifting changing.  Either violently and instantly like a volcano during which you simply must attempt to maintain all of your limbs, OR gentle and almost undetectable like the eroding of rocks by a river, like when you realize your kid is going to college and you forgot he wasn’t 5?  We have all experienced both I’m sure.  But we know the days will come again where we will be faced with the inevitable welcomed or unwelcomed presence of change.  I have found some years offer multitudes of change, like the one we are in, for us, while other years seem status quo.  We have moved Hybrid Hair and Detox Spa, and the Institute For Harmonious Living to St Jacobs, and we will soon be moving our family home to Mount Forest.  These decisions were blended in motivation between choice and necessity.  This complicates things a bit.  On one hand it’s exciting and filled with anticipation and joy.  On the other side it is met with fear that we could be causing ourselves more stress or challenge to our already busy lives, while simultaneously grieving the ending of an era.  One thing I love about the universe is that it will take these reflective opportunities to force you to face head on and truly commit to what you really want.  I have found that when sharing our news of change that some people have joined in our celebration with support and mutual appreciation for striving towards goals and attaining them.  While others will meet this announcement of courageous transformation with fear and intrepidation, reflecting back to you your insecurities and seconding guessing.  What to do with this?  As your stomach knots and twists.  Embrace it as an opportunity to recognize that there is something in you that needs to be released, or forgiven or accepted.  No courageous act of change is without a little a bit of pain as the old self is shed and the new vulnerable self emerges.  In response to such ‘Neh’ sayers you are gifted with the opportunity to remind yourself why you chose this new path, re-inspiring yourself to the new opportunities awaiting you.  Or you could allow the negative fear eat away at the precious gift that lays before you in the unknown.  The Choice is yours.

Where change hits you like a tsunami, with gail forced winds and destructive results, change is at it’s most violent and relentless.  Noone outside of you can soothe the impact and hurt that you could feel.  However, these moments can also prove necessary to shake you up in a way that you had never entertained otherwise.  Either way the decision of how this is integrated in to your life is yours.  Years following this event staying in resistance and denial could prove exhausting and futile.  Leaving you regretful and depressed.  Self care will ease this reaction before it takes hold.  Patience, acceptance, allowance and forgiveness for yourself most importantly is vital.  Everyone’s approach is natural for them and fair for their own life, noone has the right to tell you your way of integrating is wrong.  HOWEVER, staying open minded to those best intended supporters, those you trust most, is extremely important as these golden nuggets could be patchwork quilted together to form your own custom redesigned foundation for your future.  Take what resonates to you from their well meaning advice and leave the rest in gratitude.

Within change lies so many emotions and relationships young and old have been casualties of many forms of change.  Although the release of others can instill fear of abandonment, being alone and grief of the relationship, it is necessary to release others whose path you are longer meant to share.  However to best honor what was between you  is most comforting, where trying to hold tighter in a most unnatural resistant way can cause more pain and heartache.

So like treading water in the rapids, reserve your energy and go with the flow, don’t struggle against it.  Use the current of change to slowly, or quickly, sweep you to the edges where safety and stronger footing can surely provide you with a more sound perspective of your circumstances.  Use the reserved energy to heal and regather your wits before proceeding.

To anyone who feels battered and bruised from change, healing WILL come, just make sure you are open to it and give yourself permission to accept the peace after the storm.  Many self sabotage and cause self inflicted pain to punish themselves for what they believe they may have been responsible, having made a mistake, causing what they may see as an act they could and should have avoided, and there by preventing painful change.  What they don’t see is the seemingly random, yet actually, calculated acts of the universe offering you and others opportunities to grow and move forward to a better place.  By self sabotaging they limit their vision and therefore do not see this opportunity, instead choose to stay trapped in a cycle of backwards obsessive thinking, regret, grief and self punishment.  If after nonjudgmental, unconditionally loving, coaching/counseling concludes that asking forgiveness of self or others is appropriate, do so without expectation of outcome.  Whether or not the other forgives is irrelevant after an offered apology.  It is the self forgiveness that will give you the healing you search for.   Surprisingly after forgiving is internal, external circumstances will follow suit.

Never forget that we are all feathers tossed around in the wind of fate, you are not alone.  When and if you search for counsel, self care or simply a safe place to just ‘Be’, I invite you to visit us at Hybrid Hair and Detox Spa, and the Institute For Harmonious Living and enjoy our nurturing ways, through services geared to sooth your mind body and spirit.

Peace starts within you, each one of us has the responsibility to do what we need to, to chill out and find our zen on a regular basis.  For some that might be yoga and meditation, others massage and a hair cut, others, hiking and facials, I don’t care what it is, but what you MUST understand is that if you choose not to  you WILL pay a heft price.  Your health will decrease more rapidly, you will age faster, you will have a shorter life span, you will not be as effective or efficient at work or at home, you will be short tempered and low on energy, you will have more bouts of fear, anxiety and or depression, and you WILL affect negatively, EVERYONE around you.  Here is the kicker, you see chaos around you and you want to fight it!  You want to make it stop, you can’t by putting more effort outside yourself.

powerful

The only way you can influence others to become more peaceful and calm, more loving and kind is to be that first yourself.  Sounds easy but it isn’t, without self care and filling your own cup first , learning skills and tools to heal yourself first you couldn’t possibles take on the task of positively influencing others.  But start acting as a leader and teaching by example how peaceful practices produces a peaceful environment and watch how everyone around you benefits!

Tips Tuesday – What are you investing in?

breaking-news-blog

Many things floated through my mind about what to write about in this weeks Blogg, and I realized all the themes were linked, as everything is.  It all flows back to, ‘What Are You Investing In?’.

I know longer have cable.  I have not watched the news in a very long time.  I always find out what is going on.  Always.  I won’t bore you with why I do not watch it other then to say, I do not feel it’s accurate and it leans too often to the negative.  What happens when any of us lean too far, too often, to the negative?  We perpetuate more negativity.  I personally do NOT want to invest that way.  I do not want ‘interest’ on my negative thoughts or feelings.

I have seen and heard of many sad events happening lately close to me and not so close.  Watching a young woman be verbally, emotionally and physically abused for falling in love with a boy not of her culture and religion, by her own family.  This isn’t the first time, I’ve seen it and heard of this before.  In varying degrees of extremity and aggression.  Hearing how a rapist is protected and supported by the courts, a woman left to spend her life recovering.  Watching a man of authority inflict fear, pain and manipulation to sexually and physically assault women and walk away with very little if any repercussion.  Watching human beings cut down during a seemingly typical fun Saturday night, for no other reason but for their sexual connotation.  But this isn’t new, this is old news, this has become common place like a disease, we like to think it’s just in a neighboring country but it’s here, as I mentioned with the earlier example, it’s in our town, our schools, our homes, our heads.

Typically many will start pointing fingers at an extremist group, a religion, a culture, a race.  But it is far more sinister yet far more basic then that.  It can be summed up in just a few words.  Intolerance, ignorance, hate, fear.  It was found in Cristopher Columbus when he raped and pillaged the peaceful native people he found when he discover the new land, it has been in every war in the name of religion or for power, ever domestic dispute, every random act of violence from stealing a purse to rape to murder.  It simply has different faces.  But it’s all the same underneath so why hate the face?  Stop looking at the surface, it’s underneath you too, in the swearing at the diver who cut you off to the gossip you tell behind a coworkers back to the bullying on the play ground, to the mental abuse you put yourself through every time you tell yourself yours stupid, incapable, fat, ugly, worthless and on and on and on….

daily news1

What Are You Investing In?  Do you choose to add to your own negativity with layers of invested energy focusing on self inflicted crippling thoughts and emotional scars?  Do you watch negative shows and news only to spread the news, and feed the fearful sensationalism propaganda?  Are you someone who turns a blind eye to a neighbor, child, spouse, parent doing something you know is wrong and allow it to build until one or many are hurt?  How do you begin to reign in the violence? Start with your own actions thoughts and behaviors, move on to acting out of peace, love and acceptance of others, ALL OTHERS.  If you see someone of YOUR race, YOUR culture, YOUR religion, YOUR beliefs striking out against others in a hateful way, DO WHAT IS RIGHT to protect others from violent acts, help your friend, loved one, neighbor by protecting them from themselves, report it, don’t turn a blind eye, or your hands too will be bloodied with the investment you made by a decision of inaction.

What are you investing in?  How do you choose to spend your money, your time, your life?  Every choice you make controls an outcome, even the choice not to choose.  You vote with your dollars, your habits, your decision to or not to vote.  You vote by raising your children in the environment you provide for them.  What do you see as your future balance?  Have you invested enough time in your health to live a strong healthy life with your grand or great grand children?  Have you invested in your relationship with your kids for them to want to come visit you when you are in a home?  Have you invested enough in ethical practises to lead your life as an example to tohers on how to honour and respect all life on this planet?  Have you invested enough in your fellow man/woman so that your deposite of love and accpetance onto others invests into an epidemic of colossal proportions that it takes on a healing lif of its own?  Have you invested in the understanding that with voting you DO have a say in the environment your country offers to be safe in and out of your ow home, local entertainment spots and schools?

With the closing remark, that in a peaceful world no weapon is lethal.  I am completely opposed to guns, yet, as sadly our next generation has displayed in record numbers of suicides, words can kill, and you don’t need a licence to speak.  What are YOU investing in?  I choose to invest in the future, future generation, future evolution, future peace.  Will you join me?

Normally I would write a gratitude peace to our fathers for fathers day, and they should not be over shadowed by the grievous acts of radical behavior.  To my Father who voted just days before passing, I do hope our neighbors to the south will vote for a peaceful future this fall.  To our fore fathers I offer forgiveness for what they may have done in ignorance and fear, I also show gratitude for those who fell for us to enjoy peace.  To the Fathers Today may you raise tolerant, loving peaceful and respectful children of both sexes, this will not be a simple task, but I know you are up for the challenge!

Tips Tuesday – Stay cool and green!

I Found some great ways to keep cool this summer, it looks like it will be a hot and hazy one!  Many of these tips we use @HHDS & @ Home!  If you have more great ideas on how our followers can stay cool this summer in a ‘Green’ way please share your ideas on our Facebook page!

If you’re looking for green ways to keep cool this summer — with little or no air conditioner — you’ve come to the right place.

We’ve gathered a variety of eco-friendly tips that either don’t use an air conditioner or help you use your air conditioner more efficiently.

Yes, it’s true you can stay cool without harming the environment.

To keep you and the planet healthy and to save money on your energy bill, here are 20 green ways to help you keep cool when summer heat threatens to get inside your home and under your collar.

waterGreen Ways to Keep Cool With Little Or No Air Conditioner

Avoid the dry cycle and plan ahead. Allow dishes to air dry in your dishwasher. And, wash dishes late at night or early in the morning so you can keep the dishwasher door closed for several hours after the wash cycle completes to avoid hot air from spilling into the room.

Check refrigerator settings and coils. Set your refrigerator between 37 to 40 degrees and remember to keep the coils clean. Dirty coils make your refrigerator work harder and run longer, which heats up your kitchen.

Open windows and doors in the early morning. Allow early morning cool air to circulate throughout your home.

Close windows and coverings mid morning. Shut windows, blinds, shades, shutters and curtains later in the morning to stop afternoon heat from getting inside.

Drench your extremities. Run cold water over your hands and wrists, soak feet and ankles in a tub of water, splash water on your face and ears.

Dress for the heat. Wear loose or lightweight clothing made from natural fibers, such as cotton and linen (rather than synthetic materials), including sleeveless and short-sleeved shirts, shorts, capri pants, skirts and dresses. Rotate your shoes or sandals, so you’re never wearing shoes that are damp from sweat. Go barefoot when possible.

Eat smaller amounts of food. Your body produces less heat to digest small amounts of food than compared to large amounts of food.

Freeze a wet a towel. Allow the towel to thaw a little and then place it on your forehead, stomach, or feet to lower your body temperature.

Notice outdoor temperatures. Open doors and windows when the temperature drops down outside.

Practice green bathing habits. Open the window and close the door when showering, so hot steam doesn’t reach other parts of your home. If you don’t have a window in the bathroom, remember to turn on the fan to vent hot air.

Service your air conditioner. If you must use an air conditioner, make sure it runs efficiently by keeping filters clean and using the right amount of coolant. To help your air conditioner work better, use a fan to circulate the cold air. (If you can live with without using an air conditioner, do it. Use an air conditioner only during the hottest part of the day.)

Shut off heat-producing devices. When not in use, unplug or turnoff electronic devices such as computers, televisions, stereos, and incandescent light bulbs.

Sip cold beverages and eat chilled foods. Drink cold beverages, like ice water with a squeeze of lemon, or eat cold food, like chilled strawberries and blueberries, to lower your body temperature from the inside. Stay away from caffeine and alcohol, since both can lead to dehydration.

Sit under a tree. Hang out under shady trees where it can be up to 10 degrees cooler.

Spritz with water from a spray bottle. Mist your face or feet with water to cool off. While still damp, sit in front of a fan to get even cooler.

Take cold showers or baths. Lower your body temperature by cooling off your body from the outside.

Turn on fans to circulate air. Turn off the fan when you’re not in the room.  For a short-term treat, place a bowl of ice in front of the fan to move colder air.

Use a microwave or toaster oven. Cook food in a microwave or toaster oven, since both produce less heat and cook foods faster, which keeps your house cooler.

Visit the library, mall, grocery store, movie theatre or gym. Go to public places where many people can be cooled by air conditioners at the same time.

Wash and dry clothes before or after hottest periods. Do laundry early in the day or late at night when it’s cooler. Use a clothesline when possible or at least air dry part of the load. (Not everything may need to go in the dryer, especially items made from synthetic materials like workout clothes, blankets, and fleece jackets.)

sheetsSwap your sheets.
Not only does seasonally switching up your bedding freshen up a room, it’s a great way to keep cool. While textiles like flannel sheets and fleece blankets are fantastic for insulation, cotton is a smarter move this time of year as it breathes easier and stays cooler. And as an added bonus, buy yourself a buckwheat pillow or two. Because buckwheat hulls have a naturally occurring air space between them, they won’t hold on to your body heat like conventional pillows, even when packed together inside a pillow case.

Set your ceiling fans to rotate counter-clockwise.
Whether you know it or not, your ceiling fan needs to be adjusted seasonally. Secounter-clockwise in the summer at a higher speed, the fan’s airflow will create a wind-chill breeze effect that will make you and your guests “feel” cooler.

Focus on the temperature in your body, not the house.
If your ancestors survived without air conditioning, so can you. From sipping tasty iced drinks to applying a cold cloth to strong-pulsed areas like your neck and wrists, cooling yourself from the inside out is not a bad idea. Other tricks include being smart about your clothing choices and telling your partner you won’t be cuddling until the leaves start changing color.

Turn on your bathroom fans.

…or the exhaust fan in your kitchen, for that matter. Both of these pull the hot air that rises after you cook or take a steamy shower out of your apartment.

Heat-proof your bed.
Go straight to the source, and put a cool-inducing Chillow under your head while you sleep. For feet, fill a hot water bottle and put it in the freezer before placing at the foot of your bed. And it sounds strange, but slightly dampening your sheets before bedtime will majorly help you chill out.

 Let the night air in.
During the summer months, temperatures may drop during the night. If this is the case where you live, make the most of these refreshing hours by cracking the windows before you go to bed. You can even create a wind tunnel by strategically setting up your fans to force the perfect cross breeze. Just be sure to close the windows (and the blinds) before things get too hot in the morning.

summer night

 Ditch the incandescent lights.
If you ever needed motivation to make the switch to CFLs, or compact fluorescent lamps, this is it. Incandescent bulbs waste about 90 percent of their energy in the heat they emit, so tossing them to the curb will make a small difference in cooling your home while lowering your electric bill.

Start grilling.
It’s obvious, but we’re going to say it anyway: Using your oven or stove in the summer will make your house hotter. If it already feels like 100+ degrees in your home, the last thing you want to do is turn on a 400-degree oven. Besides, who doesn’t want to get more mileage out of their outdoor furniture and seasonal accessories?

 Make a few long-term improvements.
If you’re really, really committed to the whole no-AC thing, you can make a couple changes to your home that will keep it cooler for seasons to come. Insulated window films, for example, are a smart purchase as they work similarly to blinds. And additions like awnings and planted trees or vines on or in front of light-facing windows will shield your home from the sun’s rays, reduce the amount of heat your home absorbs and make your investment nothing but worthwhile.

“Wear light, breathable clothing, and avoid polyester,” says Adam Scott, green energy program coordinator for Environmental Defence and coordinator of the Green Energy Act Alliance.

Install white drapes and awnings, says Scott. “They won’t absorb the heat and will reflect it back out,” he says. Coulter says window coverings can block 65 percent of the heat that comes through windows. You could also opt for light-coloured shingles on your roof.

For days when you need AC, set it to 25 degrees Celsius.”It’s just as comfortable as 21 degrees Celsius,” says Scott. If every Canadian household did this, imagine the impact on the Earth.

Tips Tuesday – Patience

cartoon

Ever just want to jump ahead to the good part of a book, or movie?  Or just want to get past the work of setting up the party and just get down to getting down!  Sometimes we want to just find someone else to do the tough stuff so we can enjoy the fun.  BUT we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the satisfaction of the job well done.  Nor would we be the wiser for the all the lessons we might have learned in the challenges we might face while doing the work.  This applies to EVERY area of our lives. We can’t skip ahead no matter how bad we want to.  When I was a kid I wanted to grow up so fast, not sure why, maybe it was the freedom I thought adults had, or the money LOL.  But either way I wanted it now, and to go faster.  Now I seem to have trouble slowing things down!  I wish I had a pause button or rewind to appreciate the times I rushed through with little or no appreciation that now seems the happiest moments of my life.  I have since rectified this habit-o-mine

live in the moment 2

We can learn from this now, right now in the now.  Slow down.  What, if anything, do you want, need, aspire to in this moment.  Not the next.  this will allow you to impregnate (sorry for the squrimish image) each moment with purpose and actually slow things down to enjoy it more.  Showing gratitude for the now actually makes each moment better, less like work, so that we are not always seeking happiness and satisfaction in the next moment.  It also dissolves anxiety as it is induced by an inexhaustible dissatisfaction with our current situations.  It gives you time to review what you really want to change, how to improve and what you need to do to accomplish it.  Jumping ahead may get you to the next thing faster, but it’s not as full, not as precious and only gets you to the finish line faster, and when we recognize the finish line is our physical end, is that what you really want?  Remember, it’s in the journey not the destination!  Learn to embrace that and you will embrace the secret to happiness!

Tips Tuesday – Happy 80th Birthday David Suzuki!

David Suzuki

Everyone knows we are K-W’s First Eco Friendly Salon, Spa and Energy Space.  But do they understand why?  Every knows I have started a new company called ‘The Institute For Harmonious Living’ , but do they know why?

I grew up watching The Nature of Things.  I loved it, it was one of my favorite shows, it was the 80’s version of Kratts Creatures!  As I have grown up with David I have witnessed a transformation in him.  He started out curious, became aware and concerned about our impact on the planet and then started doing something about it.  This brings me back to the ‘whys’ I listed earlier.  I started out curious, ended up waking up from our cultural pablum we are served and then had to do something about it.  Not feeling good at work myself made me realize there had to be something wrong with products I was using.  It had to be making me feel that way, so then what was it doing to my clients, my water, my planet?  As I become more educated It became more and more clear someone had to do something?!  There were other people like me who simply ‘Trusted’ that someone, somewhere was regulating the things we used, bought, ate, slathered on our skin.  Right?  So by becoming more aware, more educated I became empowered, and I followed where it led me.  To create HHDS.  But it didn’t stop there, I realized as I’m sure David Suzuki did when his daughter complained as a child that ‘they might as well give up cause the world was going to end anyway’, that it wasn’t enough to just make noise to draw attention to a concerning cause.  You have to educate others, motivate others through positive action and inspiring example.  And so The Institute OF Harmonious Living was born.  What’s the connection?  As I attempted to ‘make noise’ with the salon I recognized that people were too buys, too stressed, too numbed out to do anything more.  They figured well I’m recycling, isn’t that enough?  Why cant the big corporations do more?  (I do agree with that last one!) But in reality it takes each one of us to do more.  But if you are already in overwhelm, how can you muster the energy to take action?  Through Coaching, Public Speaking, and training others, I can assist each participant in better connecting to their own needs, and in turn connecting to the needs of others and in turn the planet.  Through Self Care awareness and a stronger understanding of how our minds work to create our reality, we can literally ‘Re’ Program ourselves to be healthier, happier and in turn more conscious of our impact on others and Mother Earth.

It came to my attention that David Suzuki is celebrating his 80th Birthday and what better way then to commit to doing more to make our planet healthier.  The following links will take to stories of David’s journey and to an amazing program to protect and preserve the planet and ALL of it’s inhabitants!  ENJOY!

Tips Tuesday – Look to the Stars!

moon

I have always been fascinated by Astrology!  This past full moon was a doozy for me!  Lot’s of emotion and digging up old emotional wounds, so I looked into what is was all about, here was what I found, It completely confirmed what I had experienced!

The Full Moon on Monday 22 February 2016 is at 3 degrees Virgo, in Virgo decan 1. The full moon astrology shows a culmination of tension and conflict that has been building for months and in some cases years. Full Moon February 2015 is the final moon phase in an eclipse cycle which began in September 2015.

The February 22 full moon breaks open the extreme tension of Uranus square Pluto via a rare but powerful aspect pattern. Related to the Fist of God, or Thor’s Hammer, this newly named configuration gives the opportunity to release the anger and resolve any crisis.

solar eclipse

So I got thinking I should prepare for the next big shift and here it listed what to be prepared for!

The solar eclipse on Tuesday 8 March 2016 at 18°55′ Pisces falls in Pisces decan 2. The solar eclipse astrology focuses on the healing of a deep wound in your soul, represented by Chiron alongside the solar eclipse. It may be an old or new wound affecting your body, mind or spirit. Growing pains due to challenging aspect from Jupiter and Saturn are relieved by the recuperative and evolving power of Pluto. Freedom from pain allows for a spiritual transformation, the evolution of your soul.

The major theme of solar eclipse March 2016 therefore relates to a deep wound in your soul. This could be some existing physical or emotional pain, but may also indicate a new wound received following this eclipse. Other aspects in the solar eclipse March 2016 astrology chart and the lunar eclipse in two weeks time will give more detail about the nature of your wound and the healing process.

Both Chiron and Constellation Aquarius have the new age feel about them. The wounding/healing may manifest physically or emotionally but will involve a spiritual component, especially during healing. Your new start or new goals may involve natural or alternative methods but also new breakthroughs in science and technology. Air travel and the Internet have a part to play in both wounding through the spread of disease, and healing through information sharing.

Your wounding and healing journey could be in response to dramatic changes in global weather which are affecting our bodies and souls in way we cannot even image. The story of Chiron will be further understood in relation to the transition of healing from medicine, to hands, to the mind and ultimately to purely spiritual healing.

Last night I held an awesome workshop about ‘The writing On Your Wall’, understanding how your past is etched into you and how it can manipulate reality now and sabotage your clear thinking and experiencing of your life.  These Astrological shifts can be harsh at times, understanding what is Written On YOUR Wall can help you see the lessons instead of being blinded by the pain of past experiences.  Becoming aware of why you do what you do and learning how to counter balance your ‘reactive ‘ behavior with a more mindful consciousness.  This approach makes big energy shifts like those from Astrological impacts less and easier to navigate.

Tips Tuesday – Healthy Self Love = Heart Health! Happy V-Day XO

This is my Valentines gift to you from us at HHDS!  I posted these videos for you to understand how SELF LOVE is the first step to any other harmonious relationship.  The Relationship you have with yourself is reflected in relationships outside of you. If you completely unconditionally love and accept yourself you will be more capable of unconditionally loving and accepting others!  Fun thing is, We think we know what unconditional love is, but really very few do.  Unconditional love is the complete acceptance of others and self.  Regardless of How they behave, What they do or don’t do,Where they are in their own awareness an physical distance, Why they think the way thy do and Who they are.  There are no conditions.  Many people are not capable of loving themselves to this degree let alone others.  And to repeat, you must do this for yourself before you can experience the bliss of an unconditional relationship with another.  So where do you begin to create unconditional love for yourself and create blissful health happiness and magnetic energy to those around you attracting others that will respect you and accept you just as you are?   All of these videos will explain why it is SOOOO important to recognize the absolute necessity of Self Care.  Self Care is another way of saying, Self Love and it is the awareness of your own mind, body and spiritual state Being mindful of whether or not you are in a favorable state that supports a optimal health in all three of these areas, is what is required as a first step.  When you balance your stress, frustration, negative thoughts, your over all wellbeing and self acceptance will improve.  But NOONE ELSE can do this for you since you are the only one with access to your inner awareness which is your gauge to your over all vibrational wellbeing.  Whether you are single or in a relationship this awareness is indispensable!

If you are single becoming more aware of your inner peace or chaos will help you create greater inner awareness so you can address unhealthy inner behavior manifesting turmoil outside of you.   This will begin to reflect outside of you on a regular basis.  As this happens you begin to attract that which you desire, a balance supportive unconditional relationship.  The funny thing is , as you focus on your own health and respect your mind body spirit health, more unexpected opportunities to begin new healthy relationships will pop up unexpectedly!  So focus on your care, increase your health and be a magnet for happy new beginnings!

If you are in a relationship it is equally imperative that you focus and schedule in Self Care/Love. Relationships are a reflection of our personal health.  If you are in an unhealthy relationship void of balance, acceptance, nurturing and mutual support it is because you have STARVED yourself of these beautiful energizing needs.  As we fulfill our own needs, we rely less on others, become less of a burden, become less judgmental and in turn others feel less pressured to have to be the one to sustain you as most people barely can meet their own needs!

This is a different approach to what we have been ‘trained’ or ‘programmed’ to believe.  I have an amazing workshop called ‘The Writing On Your Wall’ coming up this February 23rd from 6-9 @AuthentikaStudio on Marsland drive, which will help you examine the ‘Programming’ on your wall of awareness that repeats unhealthy behaviors and habits that create a cycle of pain inside you and reflect outside of you in relationships personally and professionally.  To reserve a seat call 519-886-8624

Tips Tuesday – Practice What You Preach!

quote

~Lisa Nichols, ‘Abundance Now’

As I have evolved over the 6 years I have owned HHDS I have noticed a significant improvement in my self care regimen.  As I have given myself permission and recognized more an more how as I have taken the time and invested in myself I have actually become more and more effective at everything I do/am.  I have also improved my mental, physical and emotional well being.  This has created more balance in me and so created more balance in the life I experience.

I was chatting with a good friend and fellow business owner and Holistic Practitioner, Laurie Knarr, after another exceptional Cranial Sacral Treatment.  WE discussed how as we have gotten older we have started to recognize the absolute necessity for self care.  Recognizing more and more people around us falling ill, finding it hard to maintain energy and the busy lifestyles we have all committed to.  We even realized we wished we had started sooner.  It was mutually agreed that one approach didn’t work for everyone.  For example Laurie’s approach is greatly focused on personal training, and exceeding her own personal physical limitations.  While others might see her consistent participation in a grueling physical fitness regimen, it works for her.  But what works for you?  For an amazing Cranial Sacral expereince or RMT treatment contact Laurie, www.laurieknarr.ca, knarr.laurie.rmt@gmail.com

My personal commitment looks kind of like a patchwork quilt, but it works for me!  I believe in a multi dimensional approach because we ourselves are multi dimensional beings.  I see Laurie mthly for Cranial Sacral, enjoying a relaxing experience that creates an over all physical well being while releasing blockages causing discomfort.  I see Kerstin Kramer for monthly Electromagnetic Therapy and occasionally Reiki, always eliminating the pain in my foot and making me feel peaceful and light!  Kerstin is at HHDS every Friday, call in to book an experience.  I visit Cynthia Syjueco for Body Talk and Lymphatic Drainage and enjoy a great detox of negative energy and toxins trapped in the body once a mth.  She even recently treated my Dog!  Cynthia is at HHDS every Friday, call in to book an experience.  Nyssa McDonald has offered me incredible Crystal Treatments that always astounded me with the noticeable frequency vibrations that assist with balancing my physical, mental and emotional being.  Nyssa is @ HHDS every Weds, call in for a treatment.  I have recently incorporated Emotion Code treatments offered by Christine Ball and deprivation Floats at The Rock Spa, and found it to be a wonderful release of Emotional Blocks that are holding me back and her treatments quite insightful!  I have committed to weekly Yoga sessions with Christine Cummings owner of Pure Potential Yoga, where I have enjoyed physical discipline, dexterity, flexibility, muscle/core building and many times emotional block release.  I also balance all of this with weekly visits to the gym, I try to go with my hubby and kids whenever they are willing to join me!  Of course my whole awareness transformed when I became a Certified Holistic Life Coach, and Energy Psychologist, practicing what I preach as a coach has sustained me with a plentiful tool kit of skills and awareness that is truly priceless, which is why I now teach others offering certification for both through my other business Institute For Harmonious Living, http://instituteforharmoniousliving.com/.

I told you it was like a patchwork quilt, but you know what?  It works!  And I’m always on the prowl for more fascinating modalities!  I am motivated by finding the most effective options for services for our guests, but I am addicted to trying new things and evaluating what works for me and what doesn’t.  I encourage you to do the same thing.  This is what we are all about at HHDS, researching and finding safer, more effective services and products for you and your family.  Want to learn more?  Check out our workshops, or pop in for a 15 min complimentary session with one of our amazing treatment providers, who are motivated by the same desire to serve you as we are at HHDS.

The previous picture quote helps us focus on the growing awareness for Self Care.  By becoming more responsible for our own wellbeing we become less reliant on others for nurturing, and acceptance and become more self sustaining and less of a burden.  We enjoy longer lives, healthier bodies more balanced relationships and an over all more satisfying life experience.

No one EVER regrets taking better care of themselves.  No more excuses, give yourself permission and watch yourself transform and in turn your life!

Happy Anniversary HHDS! KW’s 1st Eco Friendly Salon Spa and Energy Space!

happy anniversary

Happy 6th Anniversary Hybrid Hair And Detox Spa!

WOW WOW WOW!  6 YEARS!

I am so Proud of us!  I must say I believe a lot of my personal strength was support in part by Elena Muscalu my ‘Green Family Mama’ and Facial Queen and of course my Husband, Chris Kiers for his unwaivering support mentally, emotionally and with hammer and saw with every reno I tortured him with!  My kids understanding and my sisters supportive passion have subsidized me when my own was low.

I will not lie, there have been tough times I didn’t think I could make it through.  But when I could look to no other for supplementary support what pushed me through was my Love for Mother Earth.  My commitment to my children, and their children’s future.  My passion for helping others and my commitment to bettering myself so I could prove to others that they too could persevere.

I am so grateful now for every adversity every learning curve every challenge because it made me realize every time I got back up that it really was my passion and my purpose in life to help the evolution of the industry and humanity.

I love what we do!  Our continued commitment to the environment and learning and growing in collaboration with others.  I don’t feel like I’m working when I do what I love!  Having added on the opportunity to educate more extensively through my new business The Institute For Harmonious Living, (http://instituteforharmoniousliving.com/)  I have found a way to create greater awareness to the self care cause that connects us to all other things including the planet and all of its inhabitants.  As we evolve this year my focus is on greater self care acceptance by both sexes most specifically men and assisting them with embracing the importance and art of self nurturing experiences like facials, massages, manicures, pedicures and energy treatments, without judgment and or apology.  This perception should be embraced equally for men AND women.  I am excited yet again to unveil new safer and more local Canadian Made products this year as well!

Of course it wouldn’t be complete without celebrating our amazingly unique clientele!  I am so proud to have watched, against many advisers cautionary appeals about transitioning to our eco friendly concept, that our clientele is bigger, stronger and more diverse then ever.  Nothing gives me greater joy then to introduce someone to our unique space with our tour dedicated to our concept and commitment to the planet and safer experiences for the whole family. Or hearing a like minded new client showing unlimited gratitude for our very existence, Or introducing a client to a new energy, self care service or workshop experience to empower them and their loved ones.

I giggled a little when I realized I had passed our legitimate anniversary date of Jan 1st (opened Jan 1st 2010), but I realized I was lost in what I loved, which was planning the upcoming year, hiring new inspiring family members, meeting with my ‘Green Family’ (Staff) setting goals and celebrating successes,  while growing my other company IHL and enjoying last but certainly not least my family!  What better way to honor an anniversary then participating fully in what created it in the first place.

There are no words to fully capture my gratitude for this amazing experience, or for each one of you reading this blog..

But here goes,

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

thankyou
